Yinson GreenTech (YGT) is now offering the ChargEV unlimited charging package for new owners of any BMW or Mini fully-electric model. Through this package, they can utilise any ChargEV stations throughout Malaysia for just a single annual fee.
For BMW owners, the fee is RM2,400 per year while the price is slightly lower for Mini owners at RM1,800. YGT didn’t explain why there is a noticeable price difference between the two user groups but it most probably has to do with the fact that the Mini Electric has a much smaller battery and shorter range compared to the BMW fully-electric offerings that are currently available in our market.
The package not only covers AC chargers but also DC fast chargers which usually cost more to use. As an example, the fee for the 225kW DC charger at Berjaya Time Square is RM1.20 per kWh while the 22kW AC chargers cost RM0.80 per kWh instead.
However, do note that the charging fees still vary from one spot to another. Furthermore, the charging fee for certain locations is time-based instead of kWh-based but of course, you don’t have to worry about these differences when you sign up for the unlimited charging package.
Given the pricing, you will also be eligible for a tax break under the national EV incentive policy. First introduced in 2022 and will be extended for another four years, the policy provides up to RM2,500 of tax relief for EV charging purchase and installation, rental, hire purchase and subscription for EV charging facilities.
Available until 31 December 2023, another important thing to take note of is that this annual package can’t be renewed after it expires next year. Well, technically, you can renew it but not with the current price mentioned above as a new annual fee will be announced in January 2024.
