Tesla Malaysia: Here’s an early look at the upcoming Tesla showroom in Pavilion Damansara Heights Mall

Pavilion Damansara Heights Mall officially opened its doors to the public today. Among more than 350 retail shops at the massive shopping centre, one of them is quite different from the others: a Tesla showroom

When the location came into the public knowledge last month, many speculated that it would become the first Tesla showroom in Malaysia. Also known as the Tesla Experience Centre, that honour eventually went to the Tesla Centre Cyberjaya instead which already started to welcome customers last week.

Positioned right at the Damansuria Entrance which is located on the second level of the mall, the Tesla Experience Centre is one of many stores in the shopping centre that are still closed to the public. Since it is still fully covered, you can’t see what’s inside for now.

That being said, there is a label that says “October 2023” on one of its display windows which seems to indicate that the showroom will be opened this month. If that is the case, then the timing is nicely synchronised with the launch of Model 3 Highland in Malaysia which will take place later this month.

Given its location, you can actually spot the showroom from the outside of the mall. By my rough estimate, it seemed that the Tesla Experience Centre Pavilion Damansara Heights is slightly larger than its counterpart in Tesla Centre Cyberjaya.

While it is not yet a common view in Malaysia, Tesla is not the first EV manufacturer that has established a showroom inside a shopping centre. BYD already have several of them so far including in Gurney Plaza Penang, Mid Valley Southkey Johor, and CityOne Megamall Kuching.
