Tesla Malaysia: Sunway Velocity Mall is now a Destination Charging site

Another Tesla Destination Charging site has been spotted in Malaysia. This time, it is located at the B2 basement parking of the Sunway Velocity Mall in Cheras.

This is the third Destination Charging site that has been confirmed so far in the country within the past two weeks after Sunway Putra Mall KL and Sunway Big Box Johor. Several Destination Chargers have also been installed at Tesla Centre Cyberjaya but Tesla still hasn’t decided whether they will be made accessible to the public anytime soon.

According to X user @azlan96 who captured this image at the shopping centre, six Destination Chargers have been installed at the location. For those who are not familiar with Destination Chargers, they are essentially the same Tesla Wall Connector that the company offers for home charging.

Hence, these AC chargers are significantly slower than the DC-based Tesla Supercharger. Then again, the idea of a Destination Charging site is not about fast charging but about allowing Tesla owners to charge their vehicles while they are working, shopping, or embarking on leisure activities.

Since they are not yet online, the charging speed for the Tesla Destination Charging site at Sunway Velocity Mall is not yet known at the moment. Nevertheless, we expect them to be able to deliver at least up to 11kW which matches the maximum AC charging speed for Model Y and Model 3 Highland.

Thanks to @azlan96 for the tips!
