If you’re someone who has a gaming PC or laptop with an AMD Radeon graphics card in it, you might want to skip out on the latest Windows 11 update. This comes as several users on both the AMD forums and Reddit have reported that the recent Windows 11 22H2 Moment 4 cumulative update is breaking the AMD Adrenalin software, the tool used to manage driver updates and other GPU-related matters.
It seems that users who have installed the Windows 11 22H2 Moment 4 update are encountering a strange issue which resets their Adrenalin software settings back to default every single time you boot up. The bug will also throw error messages at you stating that there was an ‘unexpected system failure’ every time even if you decide to leave it at default. This would be especially annoying if you have custom fan profiles for your graphics card, or worse still if you had previously meticulously set up an overclocked profile for your graphics card. It doesn’t seem to actually hurt the physical graphics card itself though at least.
The bug appears to be related to the big new feature in Windows 11 22H2 Moment 4—the Windows Copilot AI assistant. On the AMD forums, a user has managed to deduce that it was Copilot which wasn’t playing around nicely with the AMD Adrenalin software.
