Tesla Malaysia has officially launched its second SuperCharger location in the country which is located in Johor. The exact location is Sunway Big Box, Persiaran Medini 5, Bandar Sunway Iskandar Puteri in Johor. As part of its introductory offer, the Superchargers are offered at half-price for a limited time.
According to Tesla, the opening of this Supercharging location which has four charging stalls enables Tesla owners in both Malaysia and Singapore to enjoy cross-country road trips with a seamless charging experience. Using its V3 Supercharging stations, it can charge up a Model Y Performance with up to 270km of range in just 15 minutes.
Tesla reiterates its commitment to expanding its EV charging network in Malaysia with more charging stations opening soon. From the Tesla vehicle and the mobile app, owners can effortlessly navigate, precondition the EV’s battery and check the real-time status of the charger availability and status. Unlike other EV chargers, Tesla owners can easily plug and charge their vehicles to the charging station without the need to activate the charger via an app or payment card.
The Tesla Superchargers at Sunway Big Box are priced at RM1.25 per kWh, which is the same rate as the Supercharger location at Pavilion KL. From 5th to 8th October at 11.59pm, these chargers are offered at only RM0.63 per kWh. Idle fee applies if you don’t move your vehicle after you’ve finished charging and it can go up to RM4 per minute if all charging stalls are occupied. Parking at this location is free.
As highlighted previously, this location also has destination chargers but Tesla says they are not yet available. These are basically AC chargers that charge at a lower rate which is great if you’re going to park your EV for several hours.
If you want to check out the Tesla Model Y, they are also displaying the EV at the Main Concourse of Sunway Big Box. In case you missed it, you can check out our first drive of the Tesla Model Y RWD. The Tesla Model Y starts from RM199,000 (excluding additional fees and registration costs) while the newly upgraded Tesla Model 3 ‘Highland’ starts from RM189,000.
Tesla Malaysia has also launched its first Tesla Centre in Cyberjaya this week which also has its own Supercharger and Destination chargers. However, these chargers are not open to the public yet and are currently for internal use only.
