Proton owners in Sarawak can soon pay for their parking directly from their car’s in-car head units thanks to ACO Tech’s integration of Sarawak’s Pay & Go payment solution directly into the head unit software.
Homegrown in Sarawak, Pay & Go’s smart parking solution enables users to make parking payments directly in-car with just a tap on the Atlas head unit display – users do not need to scramble for their phones for ewallet payments or physical tickets.
ACO Tech and Pay & Go signed a Product Integration Agreement (PIA) at the World Congress on Innovation & Technology 2023 (WCIT 2023) in Kuching, Sarawak. The event was witnessed by Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, Roslan Abdullah.
The agreement will see ACO Tech integrate Pay & Go into head units powered by the Atlas OS, the same head units you see in some Proton cars. Pay & Go utilises license plate recognition technology at the carpark entrance and exits to eliminate the need for autopay machines. Once users save their number plates in their Pay & Go account, they can use credits that can be purchased in-app to make payments directly from the IHU before approaching the exit.
Proton X70 owners with the Atlas head units will be the first customers getting the update via over-the-air from 4 October onward. Other Proton models with the Atlas head units will be getting the update in the incoming months.
Pay & Go services are currently available in 28 locations primarily in Kuching and will be expanded to more areas, with plans to launch in Klang Valley in the near future.
