Alongside the Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro, the Chinese giant has also launched a brand new tablet in Malaysia. Positioned more as a midrange, portable Android tablet, the Redmi Pad SE may not be as fully featured as their Xiaomi Pad 6, but at a significantly cheaper price it still offers plenty for anyone wanting a device with a larger screen.
The Redmi Pad SE will be available in just a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM799. Those of you keen on getting one for yourself will be able to do so starting from 7 October onwards, from all authorised Xiaomi stores and retail partners nationwide as well as the official Xiaomi store on Shopee and Lazada.
Up front the Redmi Pad SE features an 11-inch LCD display, pushing an FHD+ (1920 x 1200p) resolution with a pixel density of 207ppi. The display is also capable of a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, a peak brightness of 400nits, a touch sampling rate of 180Hz and a contrast ratio of 1500:1, with 70% coverage of the NTSC colour gamut. It also comes with TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification, allowing you to watch your videos and Netflix dramas on it for longer without eye strain.
Under the hood, Xiaomi has kitted out the Redmi Pad SE with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 system-on-chip, mated to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. It comes with Android 13 out of the box, skinned with MIUI Pad 14 over it. You can also add on up to 1TB of expandable storage if needed. On the back meanwhile you’ll find a single 8MP, f/2.0 rear camear capable of up to 1080p 30fps video recording, while the front camera is a 5MP, f/2.2 shooter.
Other features of note include a large 8,000mAh battery with 10W charging speeds via USB-C, a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. With an aluminium alloy unibody chassis that weighs in at 478g and measuring in at 7.36mm thick, the Redmi Pad SE will be available in Lavender Purple, Graphite Grey and Mint Green colour options.
