Yinson GreenTech (YGT) has added yet another DC fast charger into its ChargEV charging network through a new deployment at the Starbucks Alor Setar Drive-Thru (DT) in Kedah. The location is now the seventh public EV charging spot in the city.
Located at Jalan Alor Mengkudu, the new DC fast charger that YGT has installed at Starbucks Alor Setar DT is capable of charging an EV at up to 120kW or 60kW if there are two EVs plugged into it at the same time. As for the pricing, it currently costs RM1.20 per kWh which is similar to other ChargEV DC chargers in most Starbucks DT locations such as Port Dickson and Kuantan.
As per usual, the charger can be activated through the ChargEV mobile app. However, it has yet to appear on Setel and JomCharge apps despite the existing roaming agreement that the CPO has with Gentari and EV Connection, although this most probably will be rectified in the near future.
Just earlier this year, ChargEV deployed a 40kW DC charger at the Alor Setar’s General Post Office. In addition to that, the CPO is also responsible for the 30kW DC charger and 3.7kW AC charger at the Lee Motors’ BMW showroom.
Alor Setar plays a rather vital role in Malaysia’s EV infrastructure network as it is the final location to charge your EV if you want to travel further north, especially into Thailand. This is because there are still no public EV chargers in Perlis and the next DC charger is located in the Phang La subdistrict of Sadao, Songkhla according to the latest data on PlugShare.
