Do you get unpleasant staring at your smartphone all day long? Wish you had an e-paper screen, so your eyes are comfier? Then you should be looking forward to the TCL 40 NXTPAPER 4G & 5G.
The smartphones boast screens that are glare-free, thanks to the reflection-free TUV certification. This was achieved by having a paper-like matte effect texture on the screen surface. It is also fingerprint smudge-resistant so the screen will be like an eBook reader.
The screen also has a lower blue-light output, which combined with the matte finish, gives the 40 NEXTPAPER 4G a paper-like look and feel. The brightness tops up at 450 nits.
Two models are heading to our market– the 40 NEXTPAPER 4G and 40NEXTPAPER 5G.
The 40 NEXTPAPER 4G is comparable to other mid-range phones in the market. The specs for the phone are as follows:
- 6.78-inch FHD screen
- Mediatek Helio G88
- 8GB of RAM (with up to 8GB of RAM expansion)
- 256GB internal storage
- microSD
- 50MP f/1.8 main camera
- 5MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera
- 2MP depth camera
- 32MP f/2.0 front sensor
- 5010mAh battery
- 33W fast charging
- Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
Meanwhile the 40NXTPAPER 5G is a bit inferior in specs, and gets:
- 6.6-inch HD screen
- Mediatek Dimensity 6020
- 6GB of RAM (with up to 6GB of RAM expansion)
- 256GB internal storage
- microSD
- 50MP f/1.8 main camera
- 2MP depth camera
- 2MP f/2.4 macro camera
- 8MP f/2.0 front sensor
- 500mAh battery
- 15W fast charging
- Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
Both phones run TCL’s android version called NEXTPAPER UI, which is customized to work better with the matte screen.
The 40 NEXTPAPER 4G is also compatible with the optional T-pen, which gives the phone some stylus action (and is suspiciously designed like the older Samsung Note styluses). Oddly enough, the 5G version is not supported.
TCL did not share the availability nor the price of the phone – just that it is launching in Malaysia sometime next month. Stay tuned for more information.
