Realme Malaysia is releasing the cheapest smartphone with “Dynamic Island”. Priced below RM500?

Realme is set to launch a new entry to the C-series family in the Malaysian Market. The realme C51 will be one of the cheapest smartphones in the market, with realme’s own interpretation of the Dynamic Island.

The phone has a dual material build for the rear panel. The top half is made using the glittering glass powder process while the bottom has a matte texture that prevents fingerprint smudges.

For the CPU, realme picked the Unisoc Tiger T612, which is an 8-core processor with a Mali-G57 GPU. It is the same processor as the realme C53, which is already being sold here. Malaysians will be getting the 4GB RAM model, which is paired with 128GB of internal storage. The company also included Dynamic RAM Expansion technology, which takes some of the internal storage to be used as RAM, so users will get a total of 8GB of RAM (4GB+4GB).

With a screen-to-body ratio of 85.5%, the 6.74-inch IPS LCD panel delivers decent performance when it is needed. It only has a 720p resolution, but the large size of the panel should be appreciated by users.

What makes this phone stand out among its peers is the implementation of the Mini Capsule notification area, ala the Apple iPhone 15. Supported apps can take advantage of the area to show statuses like charging, battery life, steps taken, and data usage, among others.

The entry-level smartphone has some grunt for imaging, as at the back you will get a 50 MP, f/1.8 main camera and a depth camera for additional data. On the front, there is a 5 MP, f/2.2 selfie camera with a wide lens to capture everything. However, the selfie camera only records videos at 720p.

With a 5000mAh battery, users should be able to run through the day and even a bit of tomorrow with a single charge. When the battery needs charging, it has 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging.

Realme is coy with the pricing, but they indicated that the realme C51 is going to be priced within the RM 500 price range. With that sticker price, the phone will be the cheapest smartphone with a Dynamic Island implementation that is not an Apple device. We can expect the phone to arrive by the end of the month in Malaysia
