This post is brought to you by vivo.
vivo just launched the V29 5G in Malaysia and the colourway we have here is called the Starry Purple. At the bottom of the camera island, sits an inconspicuous circular cut-out. This is vivo’s Aura Light 2.0 light ring and it helps to brighten the subject during low-light portrait photography. Compared to the first generation, vivo’s second generation Aura Light has a larger 15.6mm diameter, producing a 36% brighter light.
The supplementary lighting provided by Aura Light 2.0 can illuminate your subject’s face to reduce facial shadows, uneven lighting, and dark areas. In return, you get a more well-lit photo with a clearer look at your subject’s face.
Another trick the Aura Light 2.0 has up its sleeves is the ability to alter the colour temperature between warm and cool. There is a total of 4 LEDs in the Aura Light 2.0 system, consisting of 2 warm LEDs and 2 cool LEDs.
In auto mode, the phone will detect the colour temperature of the environment and adjust the colour temperature of the Aura Light 2.0 accordingly. But if you want to put your creative spin on the photo, you can take manual control over the Aura Light 2.0 and adjust the colour temperature using the slider.
When you’re not using the Aura Light 2.0 to brighten your subject, the vivo V29 can shoot portrait photos in almost any lighting condition and produce photos that are ready to post on social media. The vivo V29 achieves this by using a 50MP with a 1/1.57-inch sensor and optical image stabilisation.
Through pixel binning, the phone can take brighter photos with a higher clarity. Leveraging the advantages of optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation, the vivo V29 can produce sharper-looking photos in low light thanks to a more stable camera system. This means there’s a lower chance of your photos coming out blurry.
Besides portrait photography, the vivo V29 has also other custom shooting modes. One of them is called Food Mode, which helps boost the vibrancy of your food making it more appetizing. The Aura Light 2.0 also works in this mode to help give your food photos additional texture.
Then there is the Supermoon Mode which adjusts the camera settings to get the best possible shot of the moon. So, if the skies are clear and you have direct sight of the moon, grab the vivo V29 and a tripod, and get a shot of the moon with up to 20x magnification.
All the camera hardware and software are packaged in a sleek and lightweight body. Both the screen and rear panel curve into the metal frame, which not only gives it a premium look but also makes it more comfortable to hold with your hands.
We have the Starry Purple colourway which was inspired by the beauty of the ever-shining Milky Way. To achieve this representation, vivo used three types of magnetic powders and a magnetic field to precisely control the angle of reflection of those powders to create a layered light effect. After that, a second layer was added to give the phone its glittering effect.
