Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Generation specs and features
The updated AirPods look similar to the previous generation; however, the biggest change is with the charging case’s connector. Apple has seen the light and now replaced the Lightning connector with a USB-C port.
With the new port, users can use any USB-C charger in the market, not to mention the official Apple chargers, or even any Macbooks/iMacs without using a USB-C to Lightning cable. The AirPods can even reverse charge when connected to any of the new iPhone 15 via USB-C cable.
Additionally, the earbuds itself have an IP54 rating, so it has better water and dust resistance than before. The charging case also has better dust resistance for times you want to rough it out with the AirPods Pro.
If you are planning to purchase an Apple Vision, the AirPods Pro will be able to connect to it and stream lossless audio with ultra-low latency. 20-bit, 48 kHz Lossless Audio can be streamed thanks to the H2 audio chips in both the AirPods Pro and Apple Vision.
A new audio mode will be introduced with iOS 17 for the AirPods Pro called Adaptive Audio. The mode blends Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation, adjusting the noise control based on the sound in a user’s environment. Conversation Awareness meanwhile lowers the content volume, enhances the voices in front of the user, and reduces background noise when someone is talking to the user.
Like the other new Apple products here, the AirPods Pro uses recycled products in its construction – in this case, it uses 100 % recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 100 % recycled gold in the plating of multiple printed circuit boards. AirPods Pro are also free of potentially harmful substances such as mercury, BFRs, PVC, and beryllium.
For wired audio, Apple introduced the EarPod with USB-C. The design is similar to the Lightning version, so it includes a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a press of the remote.
