Following the footsteps of Oppo, Samsung and OnePlus, Xiaomi has just announced that they will be offering four years of major Android updates as well as five years of security patches for the upcoming Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro.
Officially, Xiaomi has a wide range of update policies – covering the Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco branded phones – usually between 2-3 major Android updates and up to three years of security updates.
Now with the new Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro, the company is moving towards a longer update schedule, which is a win for consumers all around. Daniel Desjarlais, the communications director of Xiaomi just tweeted the company’s commitment to the new update schedule.
The new update policy was first available in China with the Redmi K60 Ultra, which is already available for sale there. The Xiaomi 13T Pro is essentially a rebadge of the Redmi model.
Xiaomi will be launching the new phone on 26 September and will feature a 6.67″ OLED (2712×1220 pixels) display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 2600 nits of brightness, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chip, 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
For cameras, the phone will have Leica co-engineered cameras which are the 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX707 sensor, a 50MP telephoto camera and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle shooter. Powering it all will be a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
