Jabra claims their newest Elite 8 Active earbuds are the world’s toughest – here’s why

Yet another wireless earbuds is now available in Malaysia. Jabra, which is well known for creating high-end audio products, just announced the local preorders of the new Jabra Elite 8 Active, purportedly the toughest earbuds in the world.

Firstly, that claim is pretty bold. But Jabra backs the claim up with some intense testing done on the buds themselves. Specifically, the US Military Standard for Ruggedized Electronics (810H). The test  is everything from humidity and high temperature to rain and altitude.

The Elite 8 Active is completely watertight when submerged up to 1.5 metres. Better yet, the buds has IP68 rating, so they are fully dust and waterproof. Even the case has an IP rating – in this case IP 54, so it is at least dust resistant and splashproof. To top everything off, Jabra put the Elite 8 Active through the wringer, with the Highly Accelerated Corrosion Testing (HACT).

In short, the earbuds went through multiple test cycles, 11 according to Jabra, which includes 2 hours in 40°C temperatures with 93% humidity, a 15-minute splash test in salt water, and a 15-minute 40°C heat drying test – all of these just to show that it will not corrode.

Even with all the protection, the earbuds are pretty functional, with built-in Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Dolby Audio, 6 microphones, up to 8 hours of battery life on the buds (with a full 32 hours with the case) and even support for Google Assistant, Fast Pair, Swift Pair and Spotify Tap. You can even pair the earbuds to your smartwatch for times you don’t need your smartphone.

“For Elite 8 Active, we meet the need for users to be confident to use their earbuds, wherever they are, from work to work-out. This is a groundbreaking innovation on the part of Jabra as we have unveiled an Elite range that has been tested to be the world’s toughest earbuds*,” said Kean Chee Yap, Country Manager, Consumer, Malaysia, Indonesia & Philippines, Jabra.

The Jabra Elite 8 Active will be priced at RM 1,049 and comes in Caramel, Navy and Dark Grey.

Early birds can grab some great offers from Jabra – pre-ordering the earbuds from Shopee, Lazada and Sunway eMall from 8-17 September, with the earbuds shipping from 18 September.

What do you get with the pre-order? The package includes a complimentary Celebrity Fitness VIP access worth RM258 and a RM 50 discount voucher.

For normal availability, the Jabra Elite 8 Active will be available from select authorized retailed by the end of September 2023.
