Those looking for an entry-level smartphone with big screens to purchase may want to check out the new HONOR X6a and HONOR X5 Plus. The two 4G devices just joined the ranks of Honor phones in Malaysia today, with a price tag designed for the budget conscious.

Honor X6a Malaysia Specs

The Honor X6a is your typical entry-level smartphone. For instance, the display features a 6.56-inch panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. At 720×1612 pixels, it will not win any medals for resolution – there are many similarly priced phones that has Full HD resolution these days.

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Helio G36, another hallmark of an entry-level phone. I would not want to have this phone run heavy apps that’s for sure.

The Honor X6a is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which is still expandable via microSD card.

Imaging is handled by a triple camera setup at the back, although only one of the sensors is worth talking about. Honor included a 50MP sensor, manufacturer unknown, as the main camera for the phone. The other two sensors are a f/2.4 macro sensor and a f/2.4 depth sensor. Honor didn’t even list the resolution for these two sensors. The 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera meanwhile sits under a tear-drop cutout on the display.

The Honor X6a gets a rather large 5,200mAh battery and it supports 22.5W SuperCharge which delivers 31% in 20 minutes via USB Type-C.

Honor X5 Plus Malaysia Specs

On paper, the HonorX5 Plus has similar specs to the Honor X6a, apart from a few small differences.

It shares the same processor, the Mediatek Helio G36, and the same screen measuring at 6.56-inch, with a resolution of 720×1612 pixels, and 90Hz refresh rate.

The device gets 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is pretty minuscule these days. If you need more storage, it does support microSD card expansion.

Like the X6a, it has a 50MP f/1.8 main sensor and a f/2.4 depth camera at the back. It also shares the same 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera as the X6a.

While it retains a similar 5,200mAh battery as the X6a, the X5 Plus only gets 10W charging instead of 22.5W.

Honor X6a and X5 Plus Malaysia Pricing

As the two phones are mid-rangers, the price is not as high as you would expect. The prices are:

  • Honor X6a, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM 599
  • Honor X5 Plus, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage – RM 449

The Honor X6a comes in Sky Silver or Midnight Black, while the Honor X5 Plus comes in only Cyan Lake. It is now available on Shopee, Lazada and on hihonor.com/my
