ChargEV has activated its new DC fast charger (DCFC) at Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas in Johor. Capable of delivering up to 60kW of energy, the new charger is able to charge two electric vehicles at the same time.
According to ChargEV’s app, the DCFC at Anantara Desaru is fitted with two CCS2 connectors and it costs RM1.20 per kWh to utilise the charger. The charging fee is identical to what Yinson GreenTech (YGT) has imposed on many of its ChargEV DCFCs throughout the country such as Berjaya Times Square, Starbucks Drive-Thru locations, Ayer Keroh OBR Southbound, and many more.
Interestingly, this is not the first ChargeEV installation at Desaru though. YGT previously deployed a 50kW DCFC with CCS2 and CHAdeMO connectors at the Hard Rock Hotel, located just next to Anantara Coast Resort & Villa.
In addition to that, the company has also installed another 11kW AC charger at the Hard Rock Hotel. While the charging fee for the DCFC is similar to Anantara at RM1.20 per kWh, you have to pay RM5.00 per 20 minutes to use the AC charger though.
Aside from ChargEV’s implementation, there are other EV chargers within the Desaru vicinity too including the three 22kW AC chargers operated by FlexiParking at Four Points by Sheraton. The Malaysia EV Owners Club (MyEVOC) also installed a 22kW BMW Wallbox at Sand & Sandals Resort for public use.
All in all, EV owners should not have a problem getting their vehicles properly charged once they arrive and before they leave the popular beach town.
