U Mobile has just announced its Pakej 5G Rahmah offering and it is essentially an upgrade of its existing U Postpaid 68 postpaid plan. On top of that, customers can also get a new 5G phone for RM240 with a 24-month contract, or even for free if they opt for a longer 36-contract period.
U Postpaid 68 Pakej 5G Rahmah offers 200GB 5G Data for RM68/month
The enhanced U Postpaid 68 for Pakej 5G Rahmah is now upgraded from 100GB to 200GB of high-speed 5G/4G data and it costs RM68/month. On top of that, the 200GB 5G data can be used for hotspot as well as for international data roaming in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
If you need extra supplementary lines for your household, customers may add up to two UFamilyShare lines at RM38/month per line.
Extra RM10/month rebate for civil servants and device bundle
As announced by the Communications and Digital Minister, those who are working for the government can enjoy a monthly RM10 rebate for 12 months (Valued at RM120 in total) starting 16th September 2023. This means civil servants on U Postpaid 68 and U Postpaid 98 would only need to pay RM58/month or RM88/month respectively for the next 12 months.
According to U Mobile, customers who get a 5G device bundle on a 12- or 24-month contract with U Postpaid 68 will also get an additional RM10/month rebate. This reduces the monthly subscription to a more “Rahmah” compliant RM58/month. With this rate, U Mobile’s postpaid plan is offering RM0.29 per GB which is cheaper than Yes 5G’s Power 35’s cost of RM0.35 per GB.
Some of the 5G devices on offer include the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G and the Honor 90 Lite 5G. U Mobile said customers can get a new phone for free if they opt for a 36-month contract or for RM240 with a 24-month contract. In addition, the first 100,000 B40 users will be able to get the new 5G device for only RM120 with the government subsidy.
What do you lose out with “Rahmah” U Postpaid 68?
While the new upgraded U Postpaid 68 plan comes with double the 5G data, it loses out on the free global roaming. As a comparison, the current U Postpaid 68 offering allows you to enjoy free 15GB of data roaming and incoming calls in 63 destinations. Meanwhile, the new “upgraded” plan only provides free roaming in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia which isn’t limited to just 15GB per month.
U Mobile told us that existing customers can still remain on their current 100GB 5G/4G data quota with free 15GB global roaming. The current plan will not be available for new subscriptions starting 1st September 2023 and it will be replaced with the new “Rahmah” version. If you plan to travel globally a lot, the existing U Postpaid 68 plan is still a more worthwhile deal.
When can you sign up for “Rahmah” U Postpaid 68?
