Oppo has just launched the Find N3 Flip in China less than 24 hours ago as of press time. The new phone is an an upgrade to the Find N2, with some updates in features. The most obvious is the inclusion of a telephoto camera, making this the first foldable in the market with a triple camera setup.
That telephoto camera features a 32MP sensor and a 47mm-equivalent f/2.0 lens that provides 2x optical zoom. It joins what appears to be an unchanged 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, although it does gain optical image stabilisation.
The ultra-wide, on the other hand, sees a useful boost in resolution to 48MP, up from just 8MP before; it has an f/2.2 aperture. The Find N3 Flip continues to feature Hasselblad colour science as part of Oppo’s longstanding partnership with the German camera maker.
Contrary to previous reports, the battery capacity remains the same at 4,300mAh and the SuperVOOC charging for the phone will be the same as the previous model at 44W.
For the cover screen, the Find N3 Flip will be sticking to the same vertical 3.26-inch AMOLED display as the Find N2 Flip, while the inner screen is the same 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 1 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, with a brightness up to 1,200 nits, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. For the cover screen, the brightness only has a peak brightness of 900 nits, so it is dimmer than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Oppo says it has redesigned the cover screen UI, offering greater customisation and new widgets. In China, you’ll even be able to locate, unlock and turn on the climate control of your car, with supported brands including BMW, Tesla, Li, Xpeng and Changan.
Unfortunately, unlike the Z Flip 5, you still don’t get a QWERTY keyboard to type out messages, with predetermined quick replies, emojis and speech-to-text remaining your only options.
Powering everything will be the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset, the same chip used in the Vivo X90 and the Oppo Find X6. It is built using the 4nm process by TSMC and is expected to provide better battery life and new features such as WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. Interestingly, the Find N3 Flip features an alert slider that previously was a OnePlus trademark.
Based on the official Chinese website, the Find N3 will come in two storage flavours – 256GB and 512GB. The RAM will be the same for both – 12GB, which is more than the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
“For Find N2 Flip, we created the best flip phone possible, and now Find N2 Flip is the number one foldable in China. We couldn’t be more proud. For Find N3 Flip, we’re bringing upgrades across the board – elevated styling, an improved cover screen experience, and a game-changing flip phone camera – simply put, expect the exquisite from Find N3 Flip,” Pete Lau, SVP and Chief Product Officer at Oppo commented.
Last but not least, it’s been confirmed that the Find N3 Flip will be sold globally, just like the Find N2 Flip, with full details to be announced during an upcoming global launch event. This means you can expect the phone to arrive in Malaysia pretty soon. In the meantime, you can check out our full review of the Find N2 Flip below.
