If you didn’t manage to check out the Tesla Model Y during the official launch roadshow and at EVx, Tesla Malaysia is still putting their fully electric SUV on display at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in Bukit Bintang. A couple of units in different variants are on display on Level 3 in the area outside of Prada.
These Tesla Model Y units will be open to the public to explore until the 31st of October 2023. Tesla Malaysia has been accepting online bookings for the Model Y via their website since last month and the deliveries are expected to begin sometime in early 2024.
To recap, here’s the official pricing for the Tesla Model Y in Malaysia:
- Rear Wheel Drive – RM199,000
- All-Wheel Drive Long Range – RM246,000
- All-Wheel Drive Performance – RM288,000
To secure your unit, you’ll need to make a non-refundable booking fee of RM1,000. If you don’t want the default white colour option, you’ll have to pay RM5,000 for Solid Black, Midnight Silver Metallic and Deep Blue, and RM10,000 for Red. Other customisable options include changing the interior trim from Black to White for RM5,000 and also to upgrade the wheels from 19″ to 20″ for RM10,000.
If you want to upgrade the default basic “auto-pilot” to “enhanced auto-pilot”, it will cost you RM16,000. Meanwhile, the “full self-driving” capability costs RM32,000 but take note that the full self-driving potential is subject to local regulatory approvals
As announced last week, Tesla Malaysia has confirmed that Model Y customers who placed their bookings by 31st October will receive a free Wall Connector worth RM2,880. This is essentially an AC charger for your home which provides a rated 71km of driving range per hour with a 3-phase power supply.
Installation is not included and it costs RM2,200 which includes installation work and other equipment such as switches, circuit breakers, residual current devices and distribution box. You’ll have to pay more if you need a longer cable and customers who reside in East Malaysia will have to pay an additional fee of RM300.
If you’re staying outside of the Klang Valley, take note that Tesla Malaysia will be delivering your new car at a designated pickup point in the Klang Valley. If you’re staying in other states including the East Coast or East Malaysia, you would need to prepare for further transportation arrangements which may incur additional fees. This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering most carmakers have higher pricing for Sabah and Sarawak, due to extra shipping and handling.
Earlier this week, Tesla Malaysia has given us the opportunity to drive the base Tesla Model Y RWD model that starts from RM199,000. You can check out our Tesla Model Y first drive impressions in Malaysia or watch our video below:
