The Centre Court of Pavilion KL will be hosting the Audi Showcase from 14 to 20 August. Audi Malaysia has confirmed that the centrepiece of the week-long event is the brand’s current flagship electric vehicles for our market, the RS e-tron GT and e-tron GT.
Both of these premium EVs were officially launched in Malaysia just two months ago together with the Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron SUVs. That being said, all of the e-tron stocks for our market have already been fully booked even before the launch event took place according to Audi’s official distributor for our market, PHAS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM).
So, it is rather interesting to see that PHSAM will make these e-tron models as the stars of the Audi Showcase at Pavilion KL next week.
Audi e-tron GT Quattro quick specs
For Marvel Cinematic Universe fans out there, the e-tron GT Quattro may look familiar to you. This is because it is the very EV that Tony Stark drove in Avengers: Endgame although the version that was shown in the movie was still in a prototype form.
Built using the J1 Platform just like the Porsche Taycan, the Quattro on its name represents the car’s all-wheel drive setup. Equipped with two electric motors, the e-tron GT has a combined output of up to 390kW (523hp) alongside a maximum torque of 640Nm.
Thanks to the massive firepower, it is able to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds. The e-tron GT also has a rather huge battery capacity too at 93.4km which helps the EV deliver a significant WLTP range of 501km.
When it comes to charging time, Audi claimed that the e-tron GT can be charged from 5% to 80% in just 22.5 minutes. In order to achieve such a quick charging time which is made possible by its 800V architecture, the EV have to be charged using a DC fast charger that can output 270kW and higher.
An onboard 11kW AC charger comes as standard with e-tron GT but you can opt for the 22kW charger by choosing the Dynamic Package upgrade. Alternatively, you can also go all the way by getting your hands on the RS e-tron GT instead.
Audi RS e-tron GT quick specs
The RS variant is generally the highest-performance e-tron GT variant that you can buy in Malaysia. It is certainly more powerful than the standard e-tron GT as the RS version is capable of delivering 475kW (637hp) of output alongside 830Nm of torque.
Naturally, the extra firepower also helps improve the RS e-tron GT’s 0 to 100km/h sprint time to 3.3 seconds. The EV still features the same 93.4kWh battery and 800V architecture which means that its charging time is still identical to the standard e-tron GT.
Unsurprisingly, the increased performance that the RS variant has over the standard e-tron GT does reduce its WLTP range. However, it is still quite respectable at 495km.
Audi e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT pricing, warranty, free charging credit
When it comes to on-the-road pricing (without insurance), here is what it looks like for the Audi e-tron GT family in Malaysia:
- Audi e-tron GT Quattro: RM588,790
- Audi e-tron GT Quattro with Dynamic Package: RM667,790
- Audi RS e-tron GT Quattro: RM793,790
All Audi e-tron models come with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty and 5-year complimentary roadside assistance as standard although the high voltage batteries within them have a separate 8-year/160,000km warranty. Customers can opt for the Audi Assurance Package which adds another 3 years to the warranty together with 3 years of maintenance at 15,000km service intervals.
During the June launch event, PHSAM also announced that all e-tron customers will be provided with RM1,000 worth of credit that can use at JomCharge chargers throughout Malaysia. As it turns out, the offer is still available until today.
EV to be a mainstay attraction at Pavilion KL?
While we are on the topic, it seems that Pavilion KL has become quite popular with premium EV manufacturers as of late. For example, Lotus Cars Malaysia immediately put the Lotus Eletre on display at the popular shopping mall after its Malaysian launch event.
The company has since opened up a pop-up store to display the electric SUV together with other models such as Elise and Emira. Pavilion KL also hosted the Malaysian debut of the Tesla Model Y and is the first Supercharger location in Malaysia.
Post-launch, the Model Y is now currently on display until the end of this month at Level 3 of the mall. Not only that, Pavilion is also one of several developers that have signed a deal with the American EV company for Supercharger implementation.
Next week, it would be Audi’s turn to showcase its flagship e-tron EV line-up over there. With that, we expect more companies to showcase their EVs at Pavilion KL in the near future, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, don’t forget the check out our initial hands-on experience with the Audi e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT right here:
