You can now save more than RM20,000 when you purchase a brand-new Volvo EV via Volvo Car Financial Services. Offered in collaboration with RHB Bank, this offer is applicable to the fully electric variant of the Volvo XC40 Recharge as well as the Volvo C40 Recharge.
In case you are wondering, no, Volvo did not shave off the retail price for these fully electric SUVs in Malaysia. Instead, what you actually getting from this offer is an RM20,000 reduction on your loan for the C40 or XC40.
According to the simulation provided on Volvo Malaysia’s website which uses C40 Recharge with a price tag of RM290,000 as an example, one can obtain a potential savings of around RM23,099 via this offer. Through the instant principal reduction, the settlement period can also be reduced from 60 to 57 months.
The simulation also claimed that you can save more than RM24,000 and RM26,000 if you opt for a 7-year and 9-year loan tenure, respectively. Do note that the simulation also involved a downpayment of RM40,000.
Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric quick specs
Originally launched in our market in April last year, the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is essentially the first EV to be locally assembled in Malaysia. Fitted with two electric motors that have a combined output of 300kW (402hp) and 660Nm of torque.
With that massive amount of firepower, it is not surprising to see that the SUV which also features an all-wheel drive setup can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Equipped with a 78kWh battery, Volvo claimed that the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric can deliver a WLTP range of 438km.
As for charging time, it takes around 28 minutes for the SUV to go from 10% to 80% when charged using a 150kW DC fast charger. Naturally, it takes much longer to fully charged the XC40 Pure Electric by using its 11kW onboard AC charger at around seven and a half hours.
The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric CKD currently has an on-the-road starting price of RM278,888 not inclusive of insurance. If you want the SUV together with a sunroof, you have to opt for the fully imported CBU version instead which costs an additional RM5,000.
Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric quick specs
Despite being made exclusively as a fully electric model unlike the XC40 which can also be obtained as a plug-in hybrid, the C40 Recharge generally has the same performance as per XC40 Recharge Pure Electric.
Hence, you are still looking at an all-wheel drive setup with two electric motors that generate 300kW (402hp) and 660Nm torque. Volvo did claim that the C40 can sprint from 0 to 100 in 4.7 seconds which is just 0.2 seconds faster than its XC40 counterpart.
Not only that, the company also said that the C40 has a slightly longer WLTP range of 450km than the XC40 even though it still features the same 78kWh battery. That being said, the charging time remained more or less the same as it takes between seven to eight hours to fully charged the EV through the onboard 11kW AC charger.
Similarly, a 150KW DC fast charger can reduce the SUV’s 10%-80% charging time to around 28 minutes. Price-wise, the C40 Recharge currently starts at RM288,888 not inclusive of insurance.
In order to be eligible for the RM20,000 instant principle reduction offer, the purchase AND registration of the C40 Recharge or the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric must be made by 30 September 2023.
