Avis Malaysia lets you rent the BYD Atto 3 for RM198 per day but you need to pre-book early

Avis will soon offer electric vehicle (EV) rental service in Malaysia. While the service will only be ready in September, the rental company is already running a pre-booking campaign for it at the ongoing EV Expo (EVx) 2023.

Through this promo, customers can rent a BYD Atto 3 for RM198 per day instead of the standard daily rental fee of RM478. The standard 6% service tax has also been included in the promo price.

The package also covers Collision Damage Waiver, Theft Protection, and personal accident insurance. In addition to the unlimited mileage quota, customers will also be provided access to a 24-hour call centre service and roadside assistance service.

The company also guarantees that a replacement vehicle will be provided to customers if the car is somehow not available on the date that they have booked. While it was not noted in the brochure, Avis Malaysia personnel at EVx informed SoyaCincau that the company will also deliver the Atto 3 directly to customers and pick it up back once they are done, as part of this pre-booking promotion.

However, they also said that the rental duration has to be at least 3 days in order to be eligible for this promotion and payment can only be made using a credit card. Additionally, you need to have at least some knowledge of using public EV chargers since neither a charging cable nor complimentary access to EV chargers will be provided alongside the Atto 3.

Meanwhile, the brochure said that the Atto 3 that Avis Malaysia uses for this service has an NEDC range of up to 480km which corresponds to the Extended Range variant. For those who are wondering, the rated WLTP range for Atto 3 Extended Range is 420km.

To take advantage of the pre-booking campaign, you can fill up this form and an Avis Malaysia representative will then reach out to you with further details. Alternatively, you can also visit the company’s booth at EVx 2023 at the Setia City Convention Centre.

Prior to this, Hertz Malaysia is also using Atto 3 for its EV rental service in addition to Hyundai Kona Electric. There is also the GoEV rental service by GoCar which utilises the first and second-generation Nissan Leaf as well as Ora Good Cat.
