Shopee is aiming to help customers feel safer when shopping online, and so they have now launched a new policy where Shopee will offer up to 8x Money Back Guarantee if you’ve purchased something on Shopee Mall that turned out to be a fake product.
According to Shopee, the new 8x Money Back Guarantee has been in place since 15 July and has been increased from the old 2x Money Back Guarantee. However, if you take a closer look at their terms and conditions, Shopee will only offer you the 8x Money Back Guarantee up to a final compensation amount of RM5,000, or the full amount if the item you purchased is over RM5,000. This means that in reality, the 8x Money Back Guarantee will only apply to Shopee Mall items priced below RM650.
So for example, if you buy an item on Shopee Mall worth RM500 and it turns out to be fake, you will be compensated RM4,000. However, if you bought something worth RM1,000 and it was a fake, you’ll get the upper limit of RM5,000 and not RM8,000. If you got cheated after purchasing something off Shopee Mall for over RM5,000 though, you will be compensated the price you paid for it.
Nevertheless, despite the RM5,000 cap it is still a good move by Shopee to help customers feel safer when using its platform. It’s also a sign of Shopee’s confidence in its Shopee Mall platform that they’re quadrupling (to a certain amount) its money back guarantee.

If you do unfortunately find yourself receiving a fake item after buying it via Shopee Mall, you can start the 8x Money Back Guarantee process by heading to the app, selecting ‘Return/Refund’ and choosing the option ‘I received counterfeit product(s)’ as your reason.
You’ll then have to list down your reasons as to why you suspect the item received is counterfeit and submit the request. Shopee will investigate the issue and if they confirmed that you’ve received a fake item, you’ll have to ship the product back to seller and Shopee will refund you your entitled amount.
