As we’ve tried out recently, EV Charge Go is essentially an EV power bank on wheels that can deliver a DC fast charger to your location. They have a couple of repurposed Proton Exora equipped with a 30kWh battery that delivers 30kW DC fast charging. EV Charge Go also has a larger 60kWh version that uses a bigger Toyota Hiace van.
From our test, we managed to charge a Kia EV6 from 37 to 46% in 15 minutes, which is equivalent to about 45-55km of range. That’s more than good enough if you’re stranded with 0% battery and you just need a quick charge so that you can continue your journey to the nearest charger. You’ll probably need to book a 30-minute charging block if you need about 100km of range.
Obviously, this mobile EV charging service costs more than charging from a standard AC charger. However, it can be a lifesaver if an EV is stranded and is not within close range of a fast DC charger.
At the moment, the EV Charge Go is only offered within the Klang Valley. However, it says stay tuned as they are planning to expand its reach to more areas soon.
