EV Charge Go, the mobile EV charging service by Gentari, is now offering its services to all EV owners in the Klang Valley. After conducting trials at selected locations in the past month, consumers and businesses can now book the EV Charge Go service through their official website.

Managed by Carput, consumers can book an EV Charge Go service on-demand by providing their car details and the preferred time and location. Once the booking is made, they will contact you for confirmation and further arrangements.

According to EV Charge Go, users can book the mobile EV charging service based on blocks of 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 45 minutes at a promotional rate of RM0.80 per minute. Each booking also comes with a deployment fee of RM10. Here’s how much you’ll have to pay in total for the EV Charge Go service during the promo period that’s running until 15th August 2023:

  • 15 minutes – RM22
  • 30 minutes – RM34
  • 45 minutes – RM46

For business owners who need EV Charge Go for an event or fleet charging, you can drop them an email at [email protected].

As we’ve tried out recently, EV Charge Go is essentially an EV power bank on wheels that can deliver a DC fast charger to your location. They have a couple of repurposed Proton Exora equipped with a 30kWh battery that delivers 30kW DC fast charging. EV Charge Go also has a larger 60kWh version that uses a bigger Toyota Hiace van.

From our test, we managed to charge a Kia EV6 from 37 to 46% in 15 minutes, which is equivalent to about 45-55km of range. That’s more than good enough if you’re stranded with 0% battery and you just need a quick charge so that you can continue your journey to the nearest charger. You’ll probably need to book a 30-minute charging block if you need about 100km of range.

Obviously, this mobile EV charging service costs more than charging from a standard AC charger. However, it can be a lifesaver if an EV is stranded and is not within close range of a fast DC charger.

At the moment, the EV Charge Go is only offered within the Klang Valley. However, it says stay tuned as they are planning to expand its reach to more areas soon.
