The Redmi 12 has arrived in Malaysia and this is Xiaomi‘s latest budget smartphone that offers a big screen and battery. During its first open sale that’s happening next week, you can get the Redmi 12 for as low as RM499.
Redmi 12 Malaysia Price
The Redmi 12 is offered in two variants in Malaysia and here’s the official pricing:
- Redmi 12 4GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM599
- Redmi 12 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM699
The Redmi 12 will be going on sale on Saturday, 15th July 2023 and you can purchase one at authorised Xiaomi stores as well as the official store on Lazada and Shopee. Take note that the lower spec Redmi 12 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model is sold exclusively online and you can get it for only RM499 (Save RM100) during the early bird promo on 15th July 2023. The devices are offered in 3 colour options – Midnight Black, Sky Blue and Polar Silver.
Redmi 12 Malaysia Specs and Features
Despite not being a “Note” model, the Redmi 12 gets a larger 6.79″ Full HD+ (2460×1080) display which pushes an adaptive refresh rate up to 90Hz and boasts up to 500 nits of brightness. While this is a budget phone, Xiaomi says it comes with a premium glass back design and it does look upmarket with its flat edge exterior. Under the hood, it runs on a 12nm MediaTek Helio G88 processor with an option of either 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. If you need more storage, it also accepts microSD card expansion up to 1TB.
For taking pictures, the Redmi 12 gets a triple-camera setup that consists of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter. Meanwhile, the front gets an 8MP selfie camera that sits in a tiny punch-hole on the display. Both front and rear cameras can record 1080p videos at 30fps.
In terms of connectivity, this is a 4G device and it gets a hybrid SIM tray that can support either two physical SIMs or one SIM plus one microSD card. It supports 5GHz WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3 as well as FM radio with the headphone jack. The Redmi 12 also boasts an IP53 rating which is basically basic splash and dust resistance. The budget phone also gets a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock.
Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery and it supports 18W fast charging via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on MIUI 14 that’s based on Android 13.
