Malaysia’s latest low-cost carrier MYAirline has launched its student programme called MYAirline Students. Offered exclusively to students studying in Malaysia, the programme provides a 20% discount on flight fares and a complimentary 15kg of baggage allowance.
MYAirline Students is open to Malaysians and foreign students aged between 16 to 26 years old who are studying in a school, college or university in Malaysia. To register as a student, you’ll need to sign up for an MYAirline rewards membership and then go to the MYAirline Students Programme form to register.
Applicants must provide supporting documents such as a copy of their Malaysian IC or Passport (For foreigners), student ID, accredited Malaysian tertiary education/college/university confirmation copy letter, a current term/semester enrolment copy letter and a digital passport photo.
MYAirline Students costs RM20 per year and a physical card will be issued to the students. As part of its introductory offer, the RM20 registration fee will be waived from 30th June to 31st July 2023. Students can book their discounted flights after their application is successful. The MYAirline Student card is valid for one year from the date of approval and students will need to renew by submitting a new confirmation letter from the school or institution (not more than 3 months from the date of application) and pay an annual RM20 fee for the card renewal.
Take note that students are required to purchase their seats 28 days in advance prior to their selected departure. For immediate departure, they are able to purchase a standby ticket at the airport check-in counter but it is subject to availability. Take note that the discount is only for MYAirline domestic routes only and it can’t be combined with any other promotion.
According to the FAQ, a standby flat fare rate for West Malaysia is RM80 for one-way all-in inclusive of 15kg free baggage. Meanwhile, for East Malaysia, the standby flat fare is RM130 for one-way all-in together with 15kg free baggage. If you plan to fly on standby, you need to be at the check-in counter at least 1.30 hours ahead of departure time.
Besides getting a 20% discount on the base fare and free baggage allowance of 15kg, MYAirline Student cardholders are also entitled to a one-time change fee for the first date change. However, this is only a waiver of the change penalty and students would need to pay the fare difference if applicable.
