Dzuleira Abu Bakar who has recently resigned as the Chief Executive Officer at Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), has been appointed as the new incoming CEO for SKS Airways. Dzuleira is currently serving her resignation notice until early September.
According to SKS Airways, Dzuleira will be taking over from the current Acting CEO and Executive Director Dato Rohman Ahmad effective 15th September 2023. Dato Rohman Ahmad will continue to be on the Board of SKS Airways as Executive Director.
Commenting on the appointment, Dato Rohman Ahmad on behalf of the SKS Board said, “We are delighted to welcome Dzuleira as our new CEO. Meanwhile, Dzuleira said “I am delighted to have been appointed as the CEO of SKS Airways. It is an interesting time to be in the aviation industry and I’m excited by the vision the shareholders have for SKS Airways. SKS Airways is ripe with potential and I’m looking forward to leading the airline.”
Dzuleira has served at MRANTI for 4.5 years. She was first appointed as the CEO of Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) and subsequently appointed as the CEO of Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) to lead the merger of MaGIC and TPM.
SKS Airways is a regional airline in Malaysia which currently operates DHC 6-300 Twin Otters from Subang Airport to island destinations such as Redang and Tioman. The airline is expanding its fleet and they have signed a leasing agreement with Azorra for ten Embraer E195-E2 single-aisle jets in a deal worth more than USD 840 million (more than RM3.9 billion).
The first two Brazillian jets are scheduled to arrive in January 2024 and SKS Airways is said to be the first airline to operate the E195-E2 in Southeast Asia. In its maximum seat capacity configuration, the E195-E2 can carry up to 146 seats and it has a range of up to 2,600nm (4,815km).
