To celebrate the brand’s 20th year in our market, BMW Malaysia has come out with a rather interesting deal exclusively for the BMW iX all-electric SUV. Available only for this month, the German marque is offering free 1-year unlimited charging for the electric vehicle.
At a glance, this offer may sound rather simple but once you looked into the details, it is actually quite extensive. For starters, it will allow customers to charge their electric SUV at any of the 133 JomCharge chargers throughout Malaysia which are run by EV Connection, one of the most well-known Charge Point Operators (CPOs) in the country.
This also means that they will have access to Gentari chargers that are also part of the JomCharge network. Among them are the 350kW superchargers at the X Park Sunway Serene and the 200kW dynamic chargers at Bangi Golf Resort.
Of course, this does not mean that iX owners should always aim for the fastest charger at the EV charging location though. After all, the iX xDrive40 can only support DC fast charging up to 150kW and the iX xDrive50 maxes out at 200kW. Meanwhile, the on-board AC charger inside the SUV supports up to 11kW of power.
Aside from that, BMW iX customers will also be provided with BMW ChargeNow 1-year unlimited charging. Under this part of the deal, customers can recharge their iX at any ChargEV AC charger nationwide.
There is a catch though: the free JomCharge 1-year unlimited charging offer is limited to the first 300 customers. Nevertheless, this deal gives potential iX owners access to two of the country’s largest EV charging networks all year long for free.
Aside from the all-year free charging, customers will also receive a free BMW Wallbox AC charger for their home complete with up to RM1,500 discount on the installation fee. For customers thinking of trading in their existing vehicle for the new iX, there is also overtrade support of up to RM15,000.
On a related note, we recently posted about how you can also obtain a free rooftop solar PV system for your home when you purchase an iX this month. This offer can only be obtained from Millennium Welt and Quill Automobiles though, who have made it possible through a new partnership with Solaroo Systems.
In Malaysia, the BMW iX is offered in three different variants including the base xDrive40 model which is priced at RM385,430. Equipped with a dual motor all-wheel drive setup, it can deliver 240kW (326hp) of power alongside a maximum torque of 630Nm.
Running on a 71kWh battery, the SUV can travel between 372km to 425km according to the WLTP standard. For RM429,430, customers can also opt for the iX xDrive40 Sport variant which provides several upgrades over the base model such as panorama glass roof, Laserlight technology, Harman Kardon surround sound system, Parking Assistant Plus, Driving Assistant Professional and larger 22-inch wheels.
As for the top-of-the-range model, the iX xDrive50 Sport offers a more powerful output at 385kW (523hp) and 765Nm of torque. Available with a starting price of RM528,430, this variant also features a higher capacity battery at 105.2kWh that enables it to travel as far as 630km on a single charge.
As per all new BMW cars, the iX comes standard with two years unlimited mileage warranty while the high voltage battery within the SUV has its own 8 years 160,000km warranty coverage. For additional peace of mind, one can consider obtaining the 5 Years Extended Warranty & 6 Years Service Package for the iX which is currently priced at RM18,370.
