Vivo Malaysia has launched its new entry-level 5G smartphone, the Y36 5G. The Vivo Y36 5G appears to be the successor the last year’s Y35 but it now runs with a new MediaTek chip with 5G support.

The Vivo Y36 5G which comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is officially priced at RM1,099 in Malaysia. It comes in two colour options – Semporna Green and Mystic Black.
The device is available at all Vivo Concept stores, authorised dealers as well as official online stores including Lazada and Shopee. If you purchase the Vivo Y36 5G from today, 13th June until 16th July 2023, you’ll get extra freebies worth up to RM298 which include a TWS Earbud and a 1-year extended warranty. In addition, customers who received the SMS from Vivo concept stores are also eligible for 1-year screen protection which they can redeem during the first sale period.
Vivo Y36 5G Malaysia Specs and Features
The Vivo Y36 5G comes with a 6.64″ Full HD+ (2388×1080) LCD panel which boasts a maximum brightness of 650 nits. It runs on a 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 6020 5G chip. If the onboard 8GB LPDDR4X RAM isn’t enough, Vivo has a Memory Booster feature which allows you to extend an additional 8GB of virtual memory from the phone’s storage.
In the camera department, the Vivo Y36 5G features a 50MP main camera and a secondary 2MP shooter for bokeh effects. Upfront, it gets a 16MP selfie camera that sits in a tiny punch-hole. In terms of connectivity, it supports 5G, 5GHz WiFi and NFC, while the power button comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor. The Y36 5G also boasts a Hi-Res speaker that claims to boost the volume by 200% up to 73dB and also IP54-rated dust and splash resistance.
Keeping the lights on is a large 5,000mAh battery that supports 44W FlashCharge fast charging via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on Android 13 with FunTouch OS 13 skin on top.
