GoCar’s GoEV service is one of the most convenient ways to try out an electric vehicle (EV) out there. The rental process is generally quite seamless as it runs from an app.
The service has been using the second-generation pre-facelift Nissan Leaf since it was officially launched back in December 2021 but now, it has finally added a different EV model: the Ora Good Cat.
According to GoCar’s blog, the vehicle rental and subscription company is offering the Good Cat through a collaboration with drivEV which is a name that we have never heard of before. While the blog post did not provide further details regarding its identity, drivEV’s logo font and colourway looked rather similar to chargEV charging service which is run by Yinson GreenTech (YGT).
Aside from being a Charge Point Operator (CPO), YGT also runs a corporate leasing service called Hyprdrive and among the EV that is available from the service is Good Cat. Hence, we believe GoCar is offering the Good Cat via a leasing agreement with YGT.
Back to the offering itself, you can rent the Good Cat for RM29.90 per hour which is the highest amount that GoCar has ever charged its customers for the GoEV service. As a comparison, the hourly fee that the company imposed on GoEV’s Nissan Leaf at launch in 2021 was RM24.90 and it has since been reduced to RM17.90.
Alternatively, you can also obtain the EV for RM340 per day which would reduce its hourly rental fee to around RM14. If you rent the Good Cat for at least three days, the daily rental fee would be reduced further to RM290 which equals around RM12 per hour.
However, do note that the fee we mentioned above does not include additional charges such as the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Flex package, and 6% SST. There is also a one-time membership fee of RM20 when you book a car for the first time.
That being said, first-time users are currently able to obtain a 30% discount to use the service by entering the GO2EV promo code that is valid until 31 August this year.
In terms of availability, GoCar’s blog post did not specifically mention where exactly the Good Cat is being made available to customers. Nevertheless, we have discovered through the app that the EV is currently located at Kuala Lumpur’s Berjaya Times Square and Eco Ardence Sales Gallery in Setia Alam.
GoCar also said that while it has provided a chargEV card inside the EV to allow customers to charge the car during their time with it, the company does not provide a charging cable, unlike the Nissan Leaf. As for the exact Good Cat variant that the company is using for the GoEV service, another post on its blog noted that the EV has a WLTP range figure of 310km which indicates that the variant is the 400 Pro model.
