Acer Predator Triton 16: Sleek gaming laptop with 16″ 240Hz display, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070

Alongside the Swift Edge 16, Acer also showed off the new Predator Triton 16 at Computex 2023. Continuing the trend of sleek and slim portable gaming machines, the Predator Triton 16 is billed as a premium laptop capable for both when you need a powerful laptop while gaming or working.

Perhaps the first thing most will notice is that, barring the RGB backlit keyboard, the Predator Triton 16 doesn’t really look like the average gaming laptop. In fact, it looks pretty much like a regular laptop, which is arguably a good thing as it means you’ll fit right in with the Predator Triton 16 in nearly any situation be it at work or in class. The metal chassis measures just 19.9mm thin, with a sleek sparking silver finish and the Predator logo on the lid and below the keyboard.

Don’t be mistaken by its looks though; this is very much a portable powerhouse thanks to Acer packing up to 13th Gen Intel Core i9 processors here with configurations of up to 32GB DDR5 5200MHz RAM and up to 2TB SSD SSD storage. As for its graphics card, you’ll find up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU bringing the latest DLSS 3 and ray tracing capabilities. All of that gets cooled by Acer’s 5th generation AeroBlade 3D fans with Vortex Flow optimisation, along with liquid metal thermal grease on the silicon.

That graphics card will be hard at work powering the 16-inch, 16:10 WQXGA (2560 x 1600p) IPS display that’s capable of a 240Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500nits. The display also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and features support for NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and G-SYNC too.

Elsewhere, the dedicated PredatorSense key allows you to have seamless customisation of the keyboard with per-key RGB lighting. You’ll also find a fingerprint reader with Windows Hello while for I/O there’s two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card reader and a HDMI 2.1 port as well as an Ethernet port. Intel Killer DoubleShot Pro meanwhile provides support for WiFi 6E connectivity.

Acer has so far not yet confirmed its pricing and availability in Malaysia yet unfortunately. They have so far only revealed that it will be heading to North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa in September for now, with a starting price of USD1,799.99 (~RM8,282.65).
