The Samsung Galaxy A24 probably has the best software and longest security support for a smartphone priced under RM1000 in Malaysia. Barely a month after its local introduction, Samsung Malaysia has announced a new Silver colour option which will replace one of its existing colours.
Effective 1st June, the Silver Galaxy A24 will replace the current Dark Red version. According to Samsung, the silver option is bright and reflective, and it is the perfect colour to “show everyone your fun, awesome personality”. The pricing for the Samsung Galaxy A24 remains unchanged at RM999 and Samsung is offering a free clear case worth RM79. If you prefer the Dark Red colour, you can still purchase it before 1st June 2023.
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy A24 comes with a 6.5″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display and it runs on a MediaTek Helio G99 processor. The device comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 1TB.
For taking pictures, it gets a triple-camera setup which consists of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro shooter. The tiny notch on the display houses a 13MP f/2.2 selfie camera. The Galaxy A24 is a 4G device and it supports 802.11ac WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.3 and it comes with NFC.
Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery which charges via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on Android 13 with One UI 5.1 skin on top. With Samsung’s promise to offer 5 years of security updates and 4 times Android OS updates, it looks like you could still use this device until Android 17 rolls out and get an extra year of security patches. For greater peace of mind, Samsung Malaysia is offering an extra year of warranty worth RM99.
