Several charging bays at the Gentari x JomCharge EV Charge Hub in X Park Sunway Serene, Kelana Jaya are closed from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM throughout this weekend until 28th May 2023. According to the notice posted on Gentari’s Facebook page and Twitter as well as JomCharge and Setel, an unnamed private event is currently occupying them.
Based on the images shared on the Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owners Club (MyEVOC) Facebook group, the closed bays have been cordoned off by Gentari. So, visitors to the hub should not have any problem identifying the affected charging bays:
Among those that are off-limit this weekend is Bay 5 which houses one of the hub’s two 90kW DC connectors. In addition to that, the 22kW AC chargers at Bay 6 and Bay 7 as well as Bay 8’s 7kW AC charger are closed as well.
EV owners that frequently utilise these 350kW chargers at the hub will continue to be able to access them as they will not be occupied by the private event. The same also applies to the 7kW AC charger at Bay 9 and Bay 10.
First opened to the public late last year, the hub is a popular destination among EV owners since it offers a variety of power options to suit the various charging needs of the EVs in the market. In fact, the hub’s 350kW chargers are among the most powerful high-speed charger in Southeast Asia.
While we are on the topic, the X Park Sunway Serene hub is among several Gentari locations that experienced a price hike last month. Depending on the type of charger that you choose, the price difference is as high as 60%.
For 350kW chargers at the hub, the charging fee went up from RM1.20 to RM1.70 per kWh. On the other hand, the fee for the 180kW (2 x 90kW) charger is now RM1.50 per kWh as opposed to the previous rate of just RM1.00 and the AC charging fee has been revised to RM0.90 per kWh which was previously set at RM0.55.
