AMD Radeon RX 7600: Entry level RDNA 3 for 1080p gamers, starting at RM1,399

Barely a week after NVIDIA announced the GeForce RTX 4060 and the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, AMD has responded with their own Radeon RX 7600. The new graphics card is positioned as a next-generation graphics card for 1080p gaming, streaming and content creation.

The Radeon RX 7600 features AMD’s latest RDNA 3 architecture, packing 32 compute units, 2048 stream multiprocessors and 64 AI accelerators running at a base clock of 2250MHz and a boost clock of 2655MHz. Just like NVIDIA, AMD was quick to highlight that 8GB of GDDR6 memory would be enough for 1080p performance, together with a 128-bit memory bus interface and 32MB of Infinity Cache. You’ll also need a beefier power supply unit compared to the Radeon RX 6600’s 450W recommendation; AMD suggests a 550W PSU to run the Radeon RX 7600 thanks to its higher 165W TBP.

All of that combines for a graphics card that should be powerful enough for most gamers who are still on 1080p monitors, with AMD claiming that it should provide for over 60FPS at 1080p on the latest titles, with 29% higher 1080p performance on average compared to the last generation AMD Radeon RX 6600 and up to 34% higher performance on average compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 8GB at max settings. If you’re mostly playing eSports titles only, you can expect even better performance of over 100FPS with the Radeon RX 7600. And of course, you’ll also find support for the latest AMD FidelityFX SuperResolution technology, with their upscaling technology allowing you to boost framerates in supported games just like NVIDIA’s own DLSS solution.

Other features of note include support for AV1 encoding and decoding, along with better performance in non-gaming workloads such as content creation and AI workloads. AMD says that you can expect to get a 27% higher standard overall score in PugetBench for Adobe After Effects and a 16% higher average GPU score on PugetBench for Adobe Premiere Pro compared to its previous generation, as well as a 36% improvement in Nod.AI Stable Diffusion. If you’re a DaVinci Resolve Studio user meanwhile, you should be able to get up to 32% faster encoding too.

The AMD Radeon RX 7600 will be available from 25 May onwards and will come with a suggested retail price of USD269 in North America, while in Malaysia it will be RM1,399, though you can expect that price to change based on cooler configurations and factory overclocks from their various board partners such as Asus, MSI, Sapphire and ASRock.
