If you need a rugged tablet for your business, Samsung Malaysia has just introduced the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro. Being an “Active” device, it is built with anti-shock properties which can withstand drops up to 1.2 metres with a protective cover or 1.0 metre without the cover. The tablet also gets MIL-STD-810H certification alongside IP68-rated dust and water resistance.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro with 5G connectivity officially retails for RM3,299 in Malaysia, which is the same price as the Galaxy Tab S8 5G. Announced in August last year, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro gets a 10.1″ WUXGA (1920×1200) TFT display that’s protected with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, it runs on an Octa-core processor which is believed to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G unit based on several reviews. For Malaysia, the device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.
For taking pictures, it gets a single 8MP front camera and a rear-facing 13MP shooter which is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. In terms of connectivity, it supports 802.11ax WiFi 6, 5G, NFC and it even comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Tab Active 4 Pro also gets an S Pen which is also IP68-rated, making it ready to be used in outdoor environments.
The device also has a fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock, which is more convenient for users wearing gloves. It also gets a Touch Sensitivity mode which optimises the touch screen to work for users with gloves on.
If you’re not working in the field, the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro also offers a desktop-like experience with Samsung DeX. You can hook it up to a monitor or a TV and use it to work on documents, presentations or to answer video calls
Another interesting feature is its large 7,600mAh battery which is user-removable. Not only this makes battery replacements easier, but it also enables front liners to swap to a fresh battery without waiting for it to recharge. The Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro has a No Battery Mode which allows you to power the tablet directly via USB-C. This is great if the tablet is powered on for long hours and you can take out the battery to prevent overheating and to reduce the depletion of the battery health. Besides charging via USB-C, the tablet can also be charged via POGO connectors as well as a POGO charging dock.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro weighs 674 grams and it weighs 10.2mm thick. For greater peace of mind, Samsung is promising up to 5 years of security updates.
