[ UPDATE ] Mid Valley City closed until further notice after fire broke out at TNB Substation

[ UPDATE 17/05/2023 17:30 ] Mid Valley City Management has announced that all offices, hotels and shops at Mid Valley will resume operations as usual tomorrow, Thursday, 18th May 2023. They have received clearance after a thorough investigation conducted by Tenaga Nasional Berhad and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department.

Mid Valley City will be closed until further notice after a fire broke out at the premises. In a Facebook post, Mid Valley Megamall confirmed that a fire broke out at the external TNB Substation at Mid Valley City and it was subsequently contained by the Emergency Response Team. The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene at 10.42am.

As of 11:38am, they have confirmed that there have been no injuries or casualties reported. However, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department are currently on the scene to conduct necessary investigations and secure the premises with no further disruptions to the mall operations.

As a safety precaution, a temporary disruption to the power supply will be implemented until the authorities can authorise its restoration. Mid Valley Megamall apologises for any inconvenience caused and they reiterate that the safety of their shoppers and guests remains their top priority.

According to the Kuala Lumpur Command and Control Centre for DBKL, the police traffic and traffic wardens are on site to manage the traffic during the road closures. Mid Valley City which includes Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall will be closed to the public until further notice. You can follow their social media platforms for more updates.

GSC which has a cinema at Mid Valley Megamall has announced that all scheduled shows at the mall will be cancelled and the cinema will be closed temporarily until further notice. All purchased tickets will be refunded. Those who have bought their movie tickets online will get a refund automatically within 14 working days while those who purchased on ground are urged to keep the ticket and return to the cinema for a refund within 7 days.
