The Sony Xperia 1 V is launching on 11th May but the Japanese smartphone maker appears to have accidentally revealed their new flagship smartphone in front of public. A billboard promoting the device was spotted outside a busy street at Ginza Plaza in Hong Kong.
As shown above, it appears that the new Xperia 1 V is focused on low light photography as the ad mentions next generation double low noise sensor. This goes in line with the Xperia 1 V’s teaser which mentions next-gen sensor and next-gen imaging.
The Xperia 1 V retains the same tall and boxy candybar style design with a vertically aligned triple-camera setup on the top left corner. Similar to its current model, the camera also gets ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating as indicated on the camera bump. If we look closely, there are some fine grooves around the flat edges and Sony has also retained an extra physical camera shutter button on the side. The billboard also confirms that the Xperia 1 V will come in three colours – White, Black and what appears to be dark green.
The overall design matches the early high-resolution render shared by serial leakster @onleaks. As you would expect from a 2023 flagship, the Xperia 1 V is expected to run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and there would be new camera upgrades from the current Mark IV. Don’t expect the new Mark V model to be cheap considering the current Mark IV model with 256GB storage was launched for RM6,099, while the previous Mark III was priced at RM5,799.
The Sony Xperia 1 V launch is happening on 11th May 2023 at 12.00pm Malaysian time. You can watch the announcement live on the official Sony Xperia YouTube channel.
