The government has recently started dismantling Touch ‘n Go’s monopoly for highway tolling and public transport, by opening up the payment options to credit and debit cards. Works Minister Alexander Nanti Linggi announced that selected highways will adopt an open payment system which will enable credit and debit card acceptance by September 2023. Meanwhile, Transport Minister Anthony Loke has also instructed Prasarana and KTM Berhad to adopt an open payment system for trains and buses.
