The Redmi 12C was launched in Malaysia back in March and despite being an entry-level device, offered some pretty solid specs and features for its price. Xiaomi Malaysia though has now announced that their cheap smartphone has gotten even cheaper, with a price reduction of the Redmi 12C along with free gifts for buyers while stocks last.
According to Xiaomi Malaysia, the Redmi 12C will now start at just RM499 for the model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the higher end option with 6GB of RAM will now be priced at just RM599. That’s a price reduction of RM100 for both variants. Xiaomi is also throwing in a free Mi In-Ear Headphones basic worth RM39 for buyers while stocks last.
For recap, the Redmi 12C offers a large 6.71-inch HD+ LCD display capable of 500nits of brightness with a small tear drop notch up top. It uses a MediaTek Helio G85 processor under the hood mated to up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM along with 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage with expandable storage of up to 1TB also available. It runs Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 13 skinned over it.
You also get a 50MP, f/1.8 main camera on the rear with a QVGA ‘auxiliary lens’ next to it. Housed in that tear drop notch meanwhile is a 5MP, f/2.2 front camera; both the main rear camera and the selfie shooter are capable of 1080p 30fps video recording. Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging via microUSB. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack, while on the back is a rear fingerprint sensor too.
