Acer has refreshed their Swift X lineup of high performance thin-and-light laptops with a new Swift X 16 announced. Packing the latest generation of hardware under the hood, the Swift X 16 is aimed at creative professionals and designers who are looking for performance packed in a small and portable package.
The Swift X 16’s first major upgrade is with its display, as Acer is now giving its flagship professional laptop an optional OLED display. This means you can choose to kit out the Swift X 16 with up to an 16-inch OLED panel with a 3200 x 2000p resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio that offers full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 0.2ms response time as well as a peak brightness of 500nits. All of that comes in an all aluminium chassis weighing just 1.9kg and measuring just 17.9mm thick.
Under the hood meanwhile the Swift X 16 now gets up to an eight core AMD Ryzen 9 7940H processor with a 45W TDP, along with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. The processor will feature an AMD Radeon 780M integrated graphics solution, but for even more performance it’ll also be available with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPUs which brings with it ray tracing support, AI and AV1 video encoding as well as the ability to play some video games on the side too. Cooling all that is an upgraded TwinAir cooling system with larger fans and a new turbo mode for up to 36% more air intake.
Other features of note include a larger battery though Acer didn’t say how long they rate the Swift X 16 to last for. You’ll also find a 1080p webcam with a suite of tools such as background blur, automatic framing and eye contact technology for better video conferencing and live streaming. This is on top of Acer’s Temporal Noise Reduction feature for higher quality imagery in low light as well as AI noise reduction for clearer calls.
As for I/O, you’ll find a microSD card slot, two USB Type-C ports, two USB Type-A ports, a HDMI 2.1 port and a headphone jack along with support for WiFi 6E wireless connectivity. You’ll find a fingerprint reader too on the Swift X 16 for Windows Hello support along with Wake on Voice for more convenient logins.
There’s no word yet on local pricing for the Acer Swift X 16 or if they’ll even bring it to Malaysia—despite my love for the original Swift X from 2021, Acer skipped out on bringing the refreshed models last year. That being said, we do know that Acer will be releasing the Swift X 16 in China next month with a starting price of CNY7,999 (~RM5,153.56), in Europe in June starting at EUR1,566 (~RM7,621.66) and in North America in July starting at USD1,249.99 (~RM5,544.96).
