Xiaomi 13 Ultra Specs and Features
Although the camera takes centre stage, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra boasts an impressive display which is the brightest on a smartphone. It gets a 6.73″ “pro-grade” WQHD+ (3200 x 1440 pixels resolution) AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It has an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate and a 1920Hz PWM dimming for less flicker in dim lighting. What’s more, it has a peak brightness of 2600 nits which is brighter than what you get on the Oppo Find X6 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro series. However, the maximum brightness is 1300nits.
Under the hood, it gets Qualcomm’s latest 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that’s cooled by Xiaomi’s self-developed Loop LiquidCool technology. According to Xiaomi, the cooling system enables the phone to capture stable 4K 60fps video without any frame drop. The device can be configured with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. To copy out large videos and files quickly, the device uses USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface allowing a max transfer speed of 5Gbps and DisplayPort video output of up to 4K 60Hz.
In the camera department, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra gets a 1″ Sony IMX989 50MP sensor for the 23mm main camera which is similar to last year’s flagship but it now gets a variable aperture lens that switches between f/1.9 or f/4.0. The other three cameras are 50MP shooters using Sony’s IMX858 sensors. This includes a 12mm ultra-wide f/1.8 camera, a 75mm telephoto f/1.8 camera and a 120mm f/3.0 super-telephoto camera. The main and telephoto cameras also get optical image stabilisation.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has built-in Leica filters and users can also choose between Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant photography styles. For videos, it can record up to 8K at 24fps as well as Dolby Vision video recording of up to 4K 60fps. For selfies, the device comes with a 32MP selfie camera that sits in a punch-hole at the top of the display.
Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery which supports 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. As you would expect from a flagship, it also gets IP68-rated dust and water resistance and dual speakers. Out of the box, it runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14 skin on top.
To complete your photography experience, Xiaomi is also offering a camera kit bundle for the 13 Ultra which costs CNY799 (about RM515). The kit bundle comes with an extra protective case, a Bluetooth-connected camera grip with a dedicated shutter button, a lanyard, a 67mm filter adapter ring and a lens cap.
