Setel has introduced a new vehicle profile feature which allows users to put EV charging front and centre of its app. In case you didn’t know, the Setel app can be used to activate and pay for EV Chargers under the Gentari network. Previously, you’ll have to use the Search function to locate and activate an EV charger near you.
With the new vehicle profile feature, you can customise your Setel experience according to the vehicle type that you own. When an EV is selected, the default map will now show the nearest EV Charger near you. If you’ve selected a vehicle that uses petrol or diesel, it will show your nearest Petronas petrol station instead.
To create a new vehicle profile, just tap on the car or logo icon in the top right corner. The app will require your vehicle’s plate number, colour and model. If an electric vehicle model is selected, the app will also ask for the type of charging connector supported such as Type 2 (AC), CCS (DC) and CHAdeMO (DC).
At the moment, Gentari has over 150 EV charging points nationwide which include its EV charging hubs at Petronas Ayeh Hitam, Sunway Serene and Bangi Golf Club. The green energy company under Petronas has recently signed a roaming agreement which will enable Setel users to activate chargers under JomCharge and ChargEV networks sometime in June.
