ChargEV, Malaysia’s largest EV charging network, has expanded its presence to Singapore in partnership with LHN Energy Resources Pte Ltd. This will provide ChargeEV users with a seamless EV charging experience when travelling down south to the island republic.
ChargEV’s first location in Singapore is at 38 Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2. The location has four DC charging nozzles that support up to 150kW each. Existing users can use the same ChargEV app (Google Play Store, Apple App Store) but you’ll need to save your credit/debit card again as the “Payment Card for Singapore”.
The new 150kW DC Chargers at Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2 cost SGD 0.60 per kWh (about RM1.99 per kWh). With kWh-based pricing, the charging mechanism is fairer to owners of EVs with lower supported DC charging rates as they would be charged for actual electricity consumed instead of parking time.
As part of the partnership, it was reported that 12 EV chargers operated by LHN will be added to the ChargEV network over the next three months. At the moment, LHN has AC chargers located at Bukit Panjang Hokkien Konghuay, Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, Phoenix Park, Toa Payoh West, Coliwoo Hotel, Keppel Road and Raeburn Park. LHN also manages over 70 carparks in Singapore.
In Malaysia, ChargEV currently has about 300 EV charging points which are mostly AC chargers. Recently they signed a roaming agreement with Gentari and JomCharge which will enable cross-tracking and cross-access of charging networks. By June, ChargEV users will be able to activate EV chargers under the Gentari and JomCharge network without requiring a separate app.
ChargEV has recently switched on its Kempower DC Chargers at Berjaya Times Square, which is their fastest charger yet with a maximum output of 225kW. The chargers are currently offered at a promotional trial rate of RM1.20 per kWh until the end of April 2023.
