The Pakej Perpaduan mobile data plan was launched in late February by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, and in just one month over 31,000 of these Pakej Perpaduan SIM cards have been bought by Malaysians.

As revealed by the minister himself, a whopping 31,092 SIM cards have been sold since it was made available a month ago. Fahmi Fadzil added that he hopes the initiative will be able to help vulnerable groups get access to the internet at a cheap price.

For a quick recap, the Pakej Perpaduan plan costs RM30 only, and is available on a number of different telcos such as Digi, Hotlink, One XOX, U Mobile, Unifi Mobile, Xpax and Yes 5G. You will however need to be one of the following:

  • Aged 30 years old and below
  • Aged 60 years old and above
  • Police or Army Veteran
  • Person with Disability
  • Part of B40 segment

When you do purchase a Pakej Perpaduan SIM card for RM30, you’ll get 30GB of mobile data capped to speeds of 3Mbps. This 30GB quota will be valid for 180 days, and you can use it for anything as there won’t be any usage limitations placed on it. If you finish the 30GB of data, you will then have to buy another Pakej Perpaduan plan for RM30. The initiative will last until the end of the year with 31 December 2023 being the last day to buy a Pakej Perpaduan plan.

This plan replaced the old Pakej Remaja Keluarga Malaysia plan that offered 20GB of data valid for three months at RM30. You can read more about the Pakej Perpaduan plan here. If you’re waiting for a more affordable fibre broadband option instead of just a mobile data plan though, Fahmi Fadzil is expected to launch the Pakej Perpaduan fibre broadband plan on 30 March, offering 30Mbps internet at RM69/month.
