After the merger, CelcomDigi have unified their fibre broadband offering with a streamlined offering for existing Celcom and Digi postpaid and non-postpaid subscribers. On top of that, they are offering a bundle deal where Celcom and Digi postpaid customers can enjoy home fibre broadband with a 4K Smart TV for RM164/month on contract.
CelcomDigi Fibre + TV bundle from RM164/month
According to their website, subscribers of eligible Digi Postpaid or Celcom Mega plans can get 300Mbps (Normal: RM150/month) fibre broadband plan and a Samsung 50″ 4K Smart TV (RRP: RM2,899) for RM164/month on a 24-month contract. According to CelcomDigi, this combo provides total savings of RM2,563. If you want bigger screen options, there’s the Samsung 55″ 4K Smart TV for RM74/month or the 65″ option for RM95/month.
However, the monthly instalment for the Smart TV isn’t combined with your Celcom or Digi bill. The FAQ states that customers will have to pay through an Easy Payment Plan with either Maybank or CIMB credit cards. On top of that, this TV bundle offer is only applicable to customers who subscribe to the 300Mbps fibre broadband plan, so you can’t enjoy this deal on the lower 100Mbps option and below.
CelcomDigi offers 300Mbps for RM100/month
As a Celcom and Digi postpaid customer, you can enjoy monthly rebates when you add on a fibre broadband plan. Subscribers can enjoy 300Mbps fibre for only RM100/month, while 100Mbps is going for RM90/month and 50Mbps is going for RM75/month. All plans are also equipped with WiFi 6 router with installation included.
The amount of the monthly rebate depends on which postpaid plan you’re on. The maximum total rebate of RM50 for the 300Mbps plan is only applicable if you sign up for a postpaid plan of at least RM90/month. If you are on a lower RM60-89 plan, the rebate for the 300Mbps plan is only RM30/month.
CelcomDigi fibre offers 300Mbps for RM75 for the first 6 months
If you’re not a Celcom or Digi customer, you can still sign up for their fibre broadband plan standalone. As part of their current promo, they are offering the 300Mbps fibre broadband plan (Normal: RM150) for RM75/month for the first 6 months. Meanwhile, the 100Mbps plan (Normal: RM130) is offered for RM90/month for the first 6 months. Their cheapest fibre plan is 50Mbps which is priced at RM90/month.
In terms of upload speed, both the 300Mbps and 100Mbps options get 50Mbps for upload, while the base 50Mbps plan comes with 20Mbps upload.
As a comparison, TM Unifi is offering 300Mbps at RM159/month, 100Mbps at RM129/month and 30Mbps at RM89/month.
Beware of the early termination policy
According to the FAQ, CelcomDigi fibre customers on contract are allowed to downgrade their plan but a RM50 downgrade fee applies. However, if you plan on terminating the contract early, you’ll have to pay RM500 or the full remaining subscription for the remaining months, whichever is higher. This is the same exorbitant penalty charge imposed by TM and Maxis for early fibre contract termination, which is essentially as good as not terminating at all. This means if you have 12 months contract remaining for a RM100/month plan, you will have to pay RM1,200 as the termination fee. Previously, both Celcom and Digi only impose a one-time RM500 fee for early termination.
The FAQ also states that fibre broadband customers are allowed to relocate their connection subject to coverage availability. However, if your new address is not within the fibre coverage areas, you will be required to terminate the service and pay the early termination fee as described in the earlier point. This is something you need to take note of if you’re staying in rented accommodation with the potential to relocate in less than two years.
