Besides doing benchmark tests for the camera, DXOMark also does testing for smartphone battery life, efficiency and charging performance. After evaluating the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, DXOMark has given it the Gold battery label for having the best battery performance for the Ultra-Premium category.
From the review, they have given the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra a DXOMark battery score of 142 points, which is #1 in the Ultra-Premium ranking, beating the likes of the ROG Phone 6 (140 points), the iPhone 13 Pro Max (136 points), the iPhone 14 Pro Max (133 points), the iPhone 14 Plus (128 points) and the Huawei P50 Pro (123 points).
On the global ranking, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is ranked #6 overall behind other power-efficient mid-range devices such as the Honor Magic 5 Lite 5G which took the #1 spot at 152 points, followed by the Honor X7a (147 points), the Oppo Reno 6 5G (146 points), the Realme GT Neo 2 5G (144 points) and the Honor X9a (143 points).
According to DXOMark, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor and a 5,000mAh battery offers almost 3 days (67 hours) of battery life with moderate use and nearly 2 days (42 hours) of intensive usage. It added that the battery’s discharge currents are quite low, especially for streaming video and phone calls, which is an indication of a well-optimised device.
When it comes to battery life, the Galaxy S23 Ultra with its moderate 67 hours of usage is ranked #3 in the ultra-premium category. It is positioned behind the ROG Phone 6 (72 hours) and the iPhone 13 Pro Max (68 hours). Globally, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s battery life is ranked at #20 behind several mid-range devices.
During their testing, a quick 5-minute charge can provide the Galaxy S23 Ultra with 5 hours of battery life and it takes 37 minutes to get from 0-80% charge via USB-C. With a maximum supported charging rate of just 45W, it is slower than its Chinese smartphone rivals, putting it at the #13 spot among the ultra-premium flagship device category and overall #44 in the global ranking. However, it is still faster than the iPhone 14 Pro Max when it comes to both wireless and wired charging.
