Xiaomi Malaysia has announced the Redmi 12C which is their new entry-level smartphone. It boasts a large 6.71″ display and a big 5,000mAh battery with a starting price of RM599.

Redmi 12C Malaysia Pricing

The Redmi 12C is now available for pre-order and here’s the official pricing in Malaysia:

  • Redmi 12C (4GB RAM + 128GB storage) – RM599
  • Redmi 12C (6GB RAM + 128GB storage) – RM699

Stocks for the device will be available starting 16th March 2023 at authorised Xiaomi stores and retailers throughout Malaysia. However, you can order it online at Shopee and Lazada. The Redmi 12C is offered in four colours – Graphite Gray, Ocean Blue, Mint Green and Lavender Purple. As part of the pre-order promo, Xiaomi is bundling a free Redmi Buds 4 Lite worth RM139 while stocks last during the pre-order period which runs until 15th March 2023.

Redmi 12C Malaysia Specs

The Redmi 12C features a 6.71″ HD+ display that pushes a resolution of 1,650 x 720 pixels and it comes with a tiny notch which houses a 5MP selfie camera. Under the hood, it runs on a MediaTek Helio G85 processor that comes with either 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which is “expandable” using the operating system’s “Extended RAM” feature. Regardless of which RAM option you pick, both models come with 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 1TB.

For taking pictures, it gets a 50MP f/1.8 main camera and a secondary low-resolution QVGA (248 x 328) camera which we don’t know what it is used for. The device has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and it supports 802.11ac WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. This is a 4G LTE phone with dual-SIM support.

Powering the Redmi 12C is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging via an old-school micro-USB port instead of USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on an older Android 12 with MIUI 13 skin on top.
