Barely a day after they made their global debut, the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro have launched in Malaysia. They’re two pretty different smartphones, with one being perhaps more for the casual user wanting a compact flagship, while the latter on paper packs nearly everything you’d want in a smartphone.

Xiaomi 13 Pro specs
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is the much larger and more premium of the two, with a 6.73-inch, curved edge AMOLED display using an E6 OLED panel that pushes a WQHD+ resolution. It’s also capable of a 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1900nits, while also covering the full P3 colour gamut. The display supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision too. There’s also a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus over it for scratch resistance, while the back is made of a bio-ceramic material.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 13 Pro gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip mated to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It also comes with MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box, with Xiaomi guaranteeing at least three years of major Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches for the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
It’s in the camera department though that the Xiaomi 13 Pro stands out, most notably thanks to the Leica lenses it uses. There’s a triple rear camera on the back with a main 50MP, f/1.9 camera using the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. It sits next to a 50MP, f/2.0 telephoto camera equivalent to a 75mm portrait lens along with a 50MP, f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera. You can also pick between a Leica Authentic Look and a Leica Vibrant Look in the camera settings to set the optimal colour and mood for your shots. In front is a 32MP, f/2.0 camera for your selfie needs.
Keeping the lights on meanwhile is a 4,820mAh battery with 120W HyperCharge fast charging; Xiaomi claims you will be able to get a 100% charge in just 19 minutes, and they even throw the charger in the box. There’s also 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging, along with support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and NFC. There’s stereo speakers too, along with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Xiaomi 13 specs
As for the non-Pro Xiaomi 13, it might be a much smaller device, but it’s still a pretty capable little smartphone. It has a 6.36-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display using an E6 OLED panel pushing a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It too has 1900nits of peak brightness with full coverage of the P3 colour gamut, support for HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and has a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 for scratch resistance. The flat edges and square camera bump meanwhile will probably remind you of the iPhone.
Under the hood you’re still getting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip here, mated to up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Xiaomi 13 will come with MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box, and Xiaomi is guaranteeing three years of Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches.
In the camera department, the Xiaomi 13 unfortunately loses the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor in the Xiaomi 13 Pro, but still has a Leica-branded camera setup it can be proud of. The Xiaomi 13 has a 50MP, f/1.8 main camera paired with the Sony IMX800 sensor, which gets flanked by a 10MP, f/2.0 telephoto shooter equivalent to a 75mm lens as well as a 12MP, f/2.2 ultrawide camera. Just like the Xiaomi 13 Pro, you can also choose between the Leica Authentic or Leica Vibrant colour presets. Selfies meanwhile get taken care of by a 32MP, f/2.0 camera up front.
Elsewhere, there’s a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging, 50W wireless charging an 10W reverse wireless charging. Xiaomi claims that the included 67W charger will be able to juice up the Xiaomi 13 to 100% in just 38 minutes. There’s also an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, an IP68 rating and support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and NFC.
