Telekom Malaysia (TM) has recently imposed more data restrictions on its Unifi Mobile 5G Prepaid Plan with smaller 5GB hotspot quota and a reduced monthly Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 60GB. Now it appears that TM has quietly introduced a cheaper monthly 5G prepaid option which costs RM25/month.

As shown on their prepaid page, there’s now a RM25/month option which provides 30GB of 4G+5G hotspot quota and the plan is listed as hotspot enabled. There are no further details about the plan as it isn’t listed on their existing FAQ.

As a comparison, the current “unlimited” monthly pass costs RM35 and it offers “unlimited” 4G + 5G data that’s capped with a 60GB FUP, 5GB of hotspot and unlimited calls to all networks. Essentially, the new plan is RM10 cheaper but you get half the data quota of the “unlimited” plan. In terms of value, it is still quite decent as you’re essentially paying less than RM1 per GB. However, for the same price, you could be better off with Yes FT5G Prepaid Plan which offers unlimited 5G with 12GB of hotspot data for RM25/month if you enable autopay.

The new RM25 monthly pass is currently available through the Unifi Mobile Prepaid app. Unfortunately, there’s no option to purchase 5G quota add-ons if you depleted your 30GB quota. To recap, the newly reduced 60GB FUP quota for the RM35 monthly pass will take effect starting 9th February 2023.
