Poco, the independent brand under Xiaomi, has just announced the X5 5G and X5 Pro 5G smartphones which will also go on sale in Malaysia starting this week. The Poco X5 and X5 Pro are running on Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 695 and 778G processors respectively which come with support for 5G.
Poco X5 and X5 Pro Malaysia Price
Like previous Poco smartphone launches, there is a special early bird discount where you can get the X5 and X5 Pro at RM100 off, while stocks last. Here’s the pricing for the Poco X5 5G in Malaysia:
- Poco X5 5G 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM1,099 (Early bird: RM999)
- Poco X5 5G 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM1,199 (Early bird: RM1,099)
The Poco X5 5G comes in three colours – Green, Blue and Black, and it will be sold exclusively on the official store on Shopee starting 9th February 2023.

Poco X5 Hardware Specs
The Poco X5 comes with a 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED display which supports a fresh rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz. It boasts a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits and a contrast ratio of 4,500,000:1. Protecting the display is Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.
Under the hood, the Poco X5 runs on a 6nm Snapdragon 695 chip paired with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The device 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 1TB.
For taking pictures, the X5 features a triple-camera setup that consists of a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro shooter. For selfies, the display gets a tiny punch-hole which houses a 13MP front camera.
The Poco X5 5G supports sub-6GHz 5G, WiFi 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 5.1. It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as an IR blaster. Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery which supports 33W fast charging via USB-C. According to Xiaomi, you can get a full charge in just 68 minutes with the bundled 33W charger. Out of the box, it runs on MIUI 13 for Poco.
Poco X5 Pro Hardware Specs
Moving up a notch is the Poco X5 Pro 5G. While it gets a similar-sized 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, the Pro model boasts a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, 10-bit colour depth and Gorilla Glass 5. However, the peak brightness is lower at 900 nits.
Under the hood, it runs on a higher-rated 6nm Snapdragon 778G processor paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which is non-expandable.
For taking pictures, the Poco X5 Pro boasts a higher-resolution 108MP “Pro-grade” main camera with a 1/1.52″ sensor that’s accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2MP macro camera. Upfront, it gets a 16MP selfie camera that sits in a punch-hole on the screen.
The Poco X5 Pro supports 5G, 802.11ax WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Besides having an IR blaster and a 3.5mm headphone jack, the Pro model also gets dual speakers. Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery and it supports a higher 67W fast charging via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on MIUI 14 for Poco.
